Our creator God wants you to be healthy. God says, “..I wish above all things that you prosper and be in good health even as your soul prospers. (3 John 2).
Good health is a life lived at your full potential physically, mentally, and spiritually. To help you experience good health, God has given some simple, easy-to-follow steps to better health.
These simple steps can be remembered with the acronym NEW START-8. Here are eight simple steps to better health:
God’s original diet for man was a plant-based diet made up of fruits, vegetables, nuts, and grains (Exodus 1:29, 3:18). This is still the best and optimal diet for mankind. Even scientific studies show evidence that a plant-based diet lowers one’s risk for common lifestyle-related diseases like heart disease, hypertension, diabetes, and cancer. Plant-based, whole-food nutrition is optimal for health. Include an abundance of fruits and vegetables in your diet along with a moderate amount of nuts and seeds.
Exercise is necessary for good health and it benefits every organ of the body. It energizes the body, strengthens the body and mind, and helps to prevent disease. It keeps the muscles strong and toned and helps them function optimally. It keeps the bones strong and helps to prevent them from becoming brittle and breaking easily. Exercise helps prevent disease and helps with mental and brain well-being. Exercise regularly-moderately-and do it for the rest of your life.
Water is essential for human existence, constituting approximately 60% of our bodies. Water is one of the most valuable helpers you have in the daily task of keeping yourself healthy. Your kidneys filter about 50 gallons of fluid a day, In a 24-hour day, more than 8 quarts of digestive juices flow into the digestive tract. Much of this water is recycled over and over again by your kidneys. However, about 2 to 4 quarts of water a day are lost through the urine, lungs, or perspiration. This loss of fluid needs to be replaced to carry out vital body processes, resist disease, and avoid overworking the kidneys. Most people should drink about 7-8 glasses of water a day. Additionally, water can be used externally as a remedy for healing.
Every living thing in our world is dependent upon the sun. Without sunshine, nothing could live. Sunlight plays a crucial role in our well-being as it provides us with essential vitamin D. There are tiny oil glands just beneath the skin called sterols. As sunshine strikes them, substances within them, called ergosterols, are transformed into vitamin D. Carried to all parts of your body, it enables you to have strong bones, teeth, and nails.
Temperance emphasizes moderation and self-control in all aspects of life. Avoid excessive indulgence in substances or behaviors that can harm your health, such as overeating, alcohol abuse, smoking, or addictive behaviors. Practicing temperance helps maintain balance, prevents harmful consequences, and promotes overall well-being
Good air quality is crucial for our health. Without air, man dies. Air is the most vital element for man and animals. One may live for weeks without food, or for days without water, but deprived of air he will perish within minutes. Proper ventilation in your living and working spaces is important as to promote fresh air circulation. Spending time in nature and taking deep breaths of fresh air can invigorate your body and mind.
Sufficient rest and quality sleep are vital for our bodies to repair and rejuvenate. A consistent sleep schedule and relaxing bedtime routine are crucial for health. Sleep environments that are dark, quiet, and cool enhance good sleep. God has given us the seventh-day Sabbath as a rest day to provide for our spiritual health.
Trusting in God is a key secret to wholistic health. Many people neglect this important health principle. But God, our creator knows us best and has written a life manual with instructions on living. True Health is impossible without following these instructions.
